Introduction

In this Toolbox we devote attention to working with electrical hand-operated tools and equipment.
Electrical hand-operated tools are used on a large scale. Nowadays there is an electrical tool for almost any job. These tools are generally practical and easy to operate. Furthermore, they make the work easier and faster. Most of these tools look so simple that it would appear that anyone can use them without any problems. This is exactly what makes them so risky.

Risks > What can happen?
  • Inexpert use;
  • Being hit by flying particles;
  • Coming into contact with moving parts;
  • Fire caused by the electrical tool catching fire;
  • Poor state of maintenance;
  • Harmful noise.
Measures > What you must do
  • If you are not familiar with the equipment, consult the user manual;
  • Never remove the security features during use;
  • Exclusively make use of inspected tools;
  • Check the tools for defects prior to use.
  • While making any adjustments to the tools, turn off the power;
  • Clean the tools following use;
  • For 220V or higher, use double-insulated tools;
  • Never leave electrical tools unattended;
  • Cable reels used outdoors must be splash water-tight;
  • Use the correct personal protective equipment;
  • Do not use electrical tools in confined spaces. Exclusively make use of safe 120V DC or 50V AC voltage;
  • Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery;
  • Place power cords so that you or anyone else cannot trip over them.
